When nights get darker, we spend more time indoors. Some of us will put on their PJ’s, straight after getting home from work and settle down in the living room with a book or Netflix. To make the time we spend home more enjoyable, you can change some things around your home, and make the most out of the dark nights. Here are some tips to keep your home warm and welcoming this winter.
Candles and Incense Sticks
The easiest way of getting a romantic feel about your home is to get some decorative candles around the living room and light incense sticks when you get home. You might even want to invest in an aromatherapy burner or electric device that distributes lovely smells around your home. You might want to get an oil diffuser to get rid of the smell of cooking or lighten up your mood.
Get your mulled wine ready and heat it up on the hob when you get home. It will keep you warm for a long time, and distribute that cinnamon smell that reminds you of snow and Christmas. You can buy mulled wine in the supermarket, if you don’t want to make it yourself. It will be a great drink to go with your apple pies and winter pudding.
When we get in from the cold, we just want to get settled and put our feet up. You can buy some footstools for the winter that are covered in fur, and they will do the trick. If you are short of space, you might get one that has built in storage, so you can hide your unused items there.
Get the Blankets Ready
To make you feel warmer and more comfortable at home, you might want to get some soft blankets. If you have storage in your sofa, hide it there in the day, or get an ottoman box for all your winter evening accessories to easily find them when you get in.
Decorate Your Windows
To keep your home warm on winter nights, you need to keep the wind and icy air out. Check the condition of your windows and ask for a quote from Buckingham Double Glazing to update your doors and windows. Still, to feel warmer for longer, you might want to get a thermal blind or curtain, at least on the large windows and the patio doors. This can make you feel warmer and improve the appearance of your home in the cold months.
You might have experienced that looking at images of fire makes you feel warmer. Sitting by the fire is also very relaxing. If you don’t have a chimney, you can buy a realistic electric fireplace that will look like there are flames inside, and even make a noise. Curl up by the fire and enjoy your favourite music track sipping mulled wine.
Most of us associate winter with the cold, chilly mornings and icy winds. Create a refuge in your home to help you relax after a hard day at work.
